Team Fortress 2: Season In Review

Watching this Team Fortress 2 team in their debut into the professional scene on the E-Sports Entertainment and Cyber Evolution leagues has been one that I have to say has been pleasurable to say the least. Although this debut hasn't come without some sacrifices, trails, and tribulations as this team embarked on their journey into this tough arena. There have been close wins, losses that leave the team scratching their head, as well as some awe inspiring plays that even made COTWs on the MGE website. I had yet another opportunity to get some input from the talented individuals that populate this team and pick their brain about their first season:

Was this season everything you thought it would be?
Unf: This seasons was very exciting. I enjoyed every match we've played. Although we did not make it to LAN, I believe we have a good base to work with for next season. And look forward to it.

Cringe: I think it was a wake up call for my team and exactly what we needed.  We've shown everyone we're contenders, but we need to take the time to scrim more seriously and more often.

Super Sexy Fabri: I would say yes. This was our first season in invite as a team and i think we exceeded my expectations.

Do you think next season will be easier or harder, because teams have adjusted to your strats?
Unf: I think next season will be about the same. Although we can't foresee what teams will stay together etc, I'm sure the competition will be just as good.

Cringe: I think next season will be slightly easier only because this was a lot of our team's first season in invite.  Rather than teams adjusting to our strats, we're starting to adjust to invite strats and implement them into our own style of play.

Fabri: I think its going to be easier for us as a team given the more experience playing against the top teams.

Did you have to make some on the fly changes you didn't foresee going into the season?
Unf: We did have to change our medic early in the season, which was a bit of a challenge, but I think overall we knew what we were getting into.

What did you like the most about each league, CEVO and ESEA?
Unf: CEVO is a bit of a letdown. Many teams in CEVO-p were not taking the matches seriously and many of the teams dropped out leaving us with forfeits. ESEA has been more exciting, and I think the competition was my favorite part of the league.

Cringe: CEVO, how lenient and easy to work with they were.  ESEA, the competition.

Fabri: I love the fact that on cevo we can play off client if its needed since TF2 is always updated and play on our 1000fps server. Esea on the other side has a much bigger competition and LAN finals.

What did you dislike?
Unf: Teams dropping out of CEVO obviously. In ESEA, there was not too much to dislike, besides a few snags with scheduling and client downtime, I think it's a great league.

Cringe: Both anti-cheat clients were a pain to work with at times.

Fabri: Nothing I would say. I enjoyed playing on both of them.

Has playing with other top tier gamers increased your appreciation for the game as well as make it more challenging?
Unf: I've always liked TF2 a lot, and playing against top teams has made me enjoy it even more. A good challenge is always nice.

Cringe: I've played at this level before and frankly, I missed it.  It's nice to have competition that I feel shows us our weak points and helps us develop strategy based on our strengths.

Fabri: Defiantly. (good thing this isn't a 1 on 1 interview it'd be the shortest ever)_

Any plans for a frag movie of any kind for this season?
Unf: I'm not sure if there will be a frag vid from this season, there has been several tf2 updates which broke older demos. Although Fabri has mentioned that he wanted to do one, I'm not sure what he plans on doing.

Cringe: Maybe...

Fabri: I have everything saved on my folder. Every pov from CEVO and ESEA. Unfortunately I'm not sure if I can commit on making one. Would be nice if someone could help with this :). We defiantly have the material for one to be made.

Have you enjoyed the extra exposure for you and the team, especially the sexy Fabri?
Unf: Exposure is always nice, and Fabri does have a sexy voice which makes tf2 girls wet as soon as they hear gauooooolywaush.

Cringe: Truthfully I kinda liked being under the radar.  We're starting to develop an issue with egos at the moment and I'm not exactly fond of it.  I'd like it if we could take everyone seriously and stop playing like we're some big bad invite team.

Fabri is a sexy beast

Fabri: :D

What do you look forward to the most about the next season?
Unf: The competition mostly.

Cringe: LAN

Fabri: Making it to LAN. I think as a team we have what it takes to succeed. We just need some more experience under the belt.

Do you have some adjustments to make for it?
Unf: We need to focus on our teamwork and communication more, besides that I think we're set.

Cringe: Play better.  Work together better.  Improve our (awful) communication.  Go over maps as a team and come up with strategies that aren't set in stone and leave room for improvisation while still catering to our teams stronger points.

Any final thoughts, about anything?
Unf: Cu next season!

Cringe: It's been a great season and if we keep at it, I think we'll be able to take a few people by surprise next season.

Fabri: Thanks to Area 51 for supporting us through the season.Shout out to all my friends :)
