Muscle Milk morphs into Area51Gaming

Recently Area 51 Gaming added the invite team Muscle Milk as their new Team Fortress 2 team after the latter team was cut from its ranks. There are some familiar faces on this team which include Cbear and friends from the ESEA-O season champs a few seasons back. After some unforseen circumstances they're back among their family here at Area 51 Gaming. I had a chance to sit down with a few of them (CB, Bloodsire, and Stamjally) and pick their brains. Here's what they had to say:

Can you tell us a little about yourselves?

Bloodsire: I was a long time TFC player involved heavily in a sniper ninche, when I heard about TF2 I was immediately sold on the game. After purchasing and downloading beta as soon as possible I fell in love with the game, I started sniping in pubs and really stagnated there for a while before eventually deciding to try my hand at competitive TF2 with a random unknown team. It soon became clear to me I would need to learn to play another class, so I decided to start to learn scout. After breaking away from that team I soon decided I would need to really hone in on my scout skills if I wanted to make it in TF2. After meeting up with cbear I delved into scout more heavily, eventually merging with CB and his team. We went on to win ESEA open under the 51 title, then after some downtime away from the organization, picked up scout open super star stamjally, and from there went on to shape our current team.

CB: I got into tf2 in the summer of 08. I was immediately drawn to the game because of the fact that teamwork was such a huge part of how you play and how best to succeed. I started at the bottom and worked my way up to playing on area51 where we won esea-o. After taking a season off we returned with a lot of the same members , but adding a few new additions that allowed us to compete at the top level. Our first season of invite we went 10-6 grasping the 4th seed of the playoffs.

Stamjally: I was originally introduced to TF2 by my brother, Jet Fox.  After some time pubbing, a bunch of pub buddies and I started a team called the Illness/#1000.  Eventually I joined Lightning Bolt who were a fun bunch of guys that I had known and played with. We won Cevo-F with the help of wonderwall/rayc.  After that season a couple of our members started to have real life issues to attend to and our team fall apart. Fortunately, during the trailing off of Lightning Bolt I had started to play with a new group of people who were incredibly fun to play with, who are now the members of Area 51 and eMg. I've been playing with these guys for a while now, and it's just the best experience I've had in TF2 as of yet.

What led to you ultimately choosing to play for Area 51 Gaming?

Bloodsire: We had been with 51 before when we won ESEA open, and were real impressed with its management. After some time away with the organization due to personal matters and downtime we quickly realized we would need the backing of an organization. 51 was our first choice but had another team at the time. We did some more searching and after not getting anywhere, we were lucky to discover 51 was in the need of a team again. We jumped on the opportunity and are proud to be apart of the organization today.

CB: It was an easy decision to come back and join the 51 organization. They provided us with everything we needed while we were with them the first time. We look forward to bringing the best name to the 51 organization.

What leagues are you planning on participating in? What do you think is the hardest league, and do you have any aspirations to compete at any LANs?

Bloodsire: We plan on playing in the top two leagues currently offered for tf2: ESEA-invite and Cevo-professional. They offer the best competition and ESEA-invite actually holds a Lan playoff which we hope to attend. Last season, while placing in the top4 of invite we were unable to attend due to the lack of an organization backing us. This time, with 51 behind us, we hope to make it just as far, if not farther, and prove our worth on LAN.

CB: We will be playing in cevo professional season 5 as well as esea season 6 invite. Esea always brings the toughest competition. We hope to make it to the lan playoffs for esea and be able to compete with the best.

Stamjally: We're definitely going to be participating in both Cevo and ESEA this coming season.  As for Lans, I know that I was disappointed that we were not able to attend the lan due to financial constraints after losing our sponsor.  Now that we have the backing of Area 51 we have no excuse not to attend a LAN, and I'm excited for the opportunity.

What do you guys enjoy doing when not gaming?

Bloodsire:  Well, as some might know, I am a real big fan of hitting the gym. Other than that, its just a lot of muscle milk and protein shakes =)

CB: I enjoy spending time with my fiance. Going out to eat, movies, normal stuff pretty much. I also like working out and being in shape.

Stamjally: I've been spending a lot of time with my girlfriend, painting with her and watching movies and a bunch of other regular stuff.  Other than that I've been working on a map for TF2 and I like to fiddle around with the various instruments I've picked up.

What are some upcoming events or projects the team is working on?

Bloodsire: Our frag vid, directed and edited by Subtitled, is high on the list of things we are looking forward to. Also Stams 18th map is something that has me personally captivated. I know the 18th time is the charm.

CB: We have a team frag video coming out very soon that we are extremely excited about.

Stamjally: Other than the movie, we're going to be testing the map I'm making for competitive TF2 in the coming months.  I think we're all kind of anxious to try it out to see how it plays.

Do you guys delve into any other games, even for fun?

Bloodsire I like to try my hand at getting dominated in quake live here and there, other than that I spend a bunch of time with our mumble group (mmm/emgs boys) playing Bad Company 2 a lot.

CB: I honestly really don't have time to play other games. I like to focus on tf2 and make sure other games don't affect that.

Stamjally: I've been trying to get away from video games in general so that I could pay more attention to my university work and hang out with friends.  Although, if I'm going to waste time I'll play old NES games or various Wii games that catch my interest.I played L4D and L4D2 for a while, but they didn't really hold my interest for more than a few weeks each.

We are all honored to welcome on a truly professional team that we know will represent Area 51 Gaming well and we hope to see at many LANs coming soon to an area near you!
