Introduction to Area 51 Crossfire team.
I took some time today to sit down for an interview with Ava and Shogg, the captains of the new Area 51 Gaming Crossfire squad.
First off let me start by saying welcome to Area 51 Gaming.
Please Introduce the squad to our readers.
We would first like to start by thanking you for having us in Area 51. As far as the squad goes, we are from all walks of gaming and came together, perhaps by chance, in Crossfire. We have several members that played CS:S, DoD:S, or the CoD series. We are the new Area 51 Crossfire division.
What games did the team play prior to getting together for Crossfire?
As far as experience goes, I came from Sway, ProCore, and Radiance in Call of Duty 4. Doop came from United Gamers in CS. 0z and Shogg played for OneDeag and STW in CS. Korosu came from x3o in 1.6. Infy played on some top teams such as coL, x6, and pure in DoD:S.
Until recently ive heard very little about Crossfire, tell us a little about the game and why theres competitive potential in the game.
CrossFire (http://crossfire.subagames.com/) is a free2play FPS that runs like a cross between CoD and CS. Servers (rooms) are hosted in a battle.net style with room hosts and whatnot. There is potential in this game because many competitively-experienced gamers are heading the community and creating/integrating leagues. For example, Iron Glove (http://www.ironglove.com) is hosting a league that is currently in week 2. ESL.eu is hosting a cup and TWL/TGL are looking to pick up the game. In addition to the aforementioned leagues, the developers of the game are building a scrimmage/match system that keeps track of record.
Approximately how many teams compete in Crossfire right now, and are there any "big names" in the game at this time?
There are roughly 35+ active competitive teams in IGL (http://www.ironglove.com). Teams are forming and joining the league every day. More teams are bound to pop up once other leagues pick up the game. Some well known teams around the are: iNex (know for their L4D team), eXultance, and now Area 51.
What would you say is the squads best attribute, what makes this squad a force to reckon with in other words?
Ava: I'd like to say that this squad is a force to be reckoned with because of our very own Danny "0z" Osborne. From his witty jokes from his nasty accuracy to his great in-game decision making he helps lead our team to victory each and every scrim or match. All joking aside, everyone contributes a great deal and our coordination/teamwork will take us to the top.
Shogg: Our team is very centered around teamwork and organization. We know each other inside and out when it comes to play style. Backing up teamwork, of course, is our experience. We're all talented individuals that can hold our own and grab an edge over the competition.
Tell me what were the factors considered when you chose to approach Area 51 Gaming about becoming The teams Crossfire division?
We chose area 51 because of it's reputation as a respectable and dominant organization. The decision was also influenced by some existing friendships between us and some members within the 51 community. Overall we look forward very much to be working with such a talented group of staff and players.
As i tend to do in my interviews i will ask you an off the wall question. Who on the squad has the biggest ego?
Ava: Probably doop, considering he claims we are the best team in the game because he's on it. Also because he wears a sombrero and has the same name as the captain of the Mighty Ducks. Quack..quack..quack..quack..
Shogg: Definitely Oz, mostly thanks to the community for making him into the infamous player that he is. I can't remember the last time he didn't get "HACKS" called on him in a pub.
Any Shoutouts?
Ava: All the teams and players that brought me through my gaming career. My boy Garrett playing @ MLG Meadowlands right now. My brother, and of course my mom (cliche shoutout). Most of all, I'd like to thank vN because we would not be here in A51 without him, rofl.
Shogg: I'd like to thank the academy, lord and savior jesus, mom, dad, Ridley, Mark, Big Troast, Barry Hallsack, Danny Osborn, and especially vN! We wouldn't be here without you bro!
That wraps up our introduction to the Crossfire team, lets all welcome and support them as they progress into this new realm!!
