Interview with Digital returning from LANAPALOOZA

Digital returned from LANAPALOOZA and was online, I thought I'd take the opportunity to bother him a bit about their experience at the LAN and some other specifics, here is what he had to say:

First of all, let me welcome you back from LANAPALOOZA Digital. Everyone is wanting to know, how did you all do?

We placed 2nd losing to a c2 pug. Overall we played well as a unit.

What was the turnout like for the Counter-Strike: Source tournament and the LAN as a whole?

The turnout for the CSS tournament was ok. Lets see we had a c2 pug, Area 51, Hausen Pug, Pirate Hookers, Steel's pug, Ataxia, xmobile, hacksonlan, and Vulpine. The LAN as a whole was descent size. Around 6 long rows of gamers. About 200 gamers in total Some there for competition others there for the social aspect. The LAN itself also had little fun games. Like server toss where people went outside to see who could throw a server box the farthest. A printer relay, where one of the players of Vulpine had to go to the hospital to get stiches for slipping and falling chin first into it. A mini game of who can setup a working cable the fastest. and who could put together a whole computer the fastest, and every event had a small prize.

Did you compete in any of the side tournaments?

I had no time to compete in any side tourneys. The admins of the event did however put up the video of the player from vulpine splitting his chin open on the printer relay.

Daemos explained you as someone that has great teamwork, ability, and works well with his teammates. As well as a great counter-flasher, spot holder, and fantastic communicator. How do you think you played individually?

I think I played well. I played my game and stuck to my game plan. Any great success or any great match I had I owe all to my teammates because without them there would be no Digital.

Where did you guys struggle, what attributed to your losses?

Both losses during the LAN was on the map de_season. Lack of preparation for the map itself caused our downfall. We have been together almost all CEVO-P and ESEA IM season BUT when I joined the roster the team had already played de_season. So we had no real time to go back over it and scrim it and play it in a match.

I hear leading up to the finals was quite intense, mind cluing us in to what happened?

Steels pug, Pirate Hookers, Hausen Pug. That is what was staring us in the face after we lost to the c2 pug. Now the Steel pug consisted of players who have played and been around the game for a while. So we had to go up against current and past CEVO-P and ESEA-Invite players. Not an easy task when you are going up against one of the better strat callers in the game (Steel). To make matters worse we had to face them on de_contra. Which is more in the favor of a pug mentality more so than a team work map. Next up we had Pirate Hookers. In my mind one of the best LAN teams in Canada. At the previous LAN event called ETS they were able to take c2 into 5 overtimes before they lost in the finals. so they were no laughing matter. The map was on de_nuke their best map and our best map. So you have two good teams with strats and chemistry going up against each other. It went down to the wire with us getting the victory 16-14.

Next up was Hausen pug (CEVO-P/ESEA-M). Who already had momentum on their side by beating us in the Round Robin on de_season (the only map we had trouble on the whole tourney) So they were headstrong ready to try and grab a victory and send us packing early. We started off t-side on de_train. With some teamwork, quick on the fly counter strats, and nice clutches. We were able to win t side 12-3 and secure the victory 16-6 when everything was said and done.

Thanks again for your time, I know it was a long set of gaming for you, anything else you'd like to add or comment on?

I just want say thank you to the Area 51 organization for making this all possible. I want to congratulate my teammates for doing a great job on LAN. I want to thank all of our fans. And last but not least thank you Are^s for the interview. Tomorrow starts ESEA-IM playoffs so stay tuned.
