Green-Berets Joins Area 51

Area 51 Gaming is proud to announce the addition of Green-Berets to our ever growing line up of upper tier teams. Green-Berets is a very well known and prestigious Counter Strike 1.6 team. Here is the interview with new member Peachie...

If you could please start off by introducing yourself.
Well, I am CJ Spilewski and I have been playing CS 1.6 for about 4 or 5 years. It has been a bumpy road to say the least but I think I have finally found my home in Green Berets, now Area 51 Gaming.

What made you guys decide to drop the GB name and head over to Area 51 Gaming?
I spoke to jame^s about it a few months ago and we decided that we wanted to go in a different direction with our team. We wanted to make things a bit more competitive for ourselves and wanted to have a strong, professional organization behind us to give us that push that every team needs to get to that next level. We shopped around for quite a while but did not find anything that jumped out, and other organizations made false promises they could not keep. Then a little while back jame^s told me about Area 51 Gaming and well, the rest is history.

Was the C3 challenge a major factor in GB's future? Or was it just another tournament?
C3 was a huge fiasco basically. There is a long story that goes with it but I will sum it up. The night before the tournament I was asked to ring for another team, and GB did not have a spot in C3, so just wanting to play CS, I agreed. Little did I know jame^s had intentions of getting us a spot and I found out way too late, so I ended up missing it. It ended up being a three person pug that was not really taken seriously, and there is no doubt in my mind we would have won if I was involved. Regardless of that, I am not sure if that sponsorship would have been right for us, especially since I do not know the terms and it could have been a really terrible contract with one LAN event tied in. I would say it was just another tournament and that we made out okay in the end.

What does Area51 have planned for you guys this year as far as events goes?
Area51 has been really generous with us, agreeing to put all their available resources and efforts to provide the team with the necessities to attending predetermined LAN events. It is a refreshing thing to hear this from an organization and I am confident we will be attending and competing at a variety of events in 2009.

Any last words?
Just want to thank Area 51 Gaming for providing this sponsorship opportunity. Also anyone that followed Green Berets, or enjoyed watching us, stay tuned as we take our next step into an exciting new future. <3
