Gillz to LanETS 2010
Area51 Gaming's very own Quake Live 1vs1 dueler Bryan "Gillz" Gilbert
will be competing at the LanETS 2010 event in Montreal, Canada. LanETS is a 750 person BYOC Lan event hosting 8 official tournaments on
both the PC and Xbox360 with a total of $15,000+ up for grabs. The event is set to run from Friday March 12th through Sunday March 14th with admission starting at 6pm.
The Quake Live community spent three months trying to get Quake Live as an official tournament for LanETS and they finally got the good news on January 14th as it was announced with the other 7 tournament games. The Quake Live tournament looks to consist of a total 22 possibly players trying to get a piece of the $400 prize pot. Going into this event Gillz has been playing quite a bit of Quake Live participating in Quake America tournaments and recently placing 3rd in the Quake America #5 tournament. I got a chance to ask Gillz his thoughts going into this event and here is what he had to say.
While coverage will be limited to only what Gillz updates us on Area51 Gaming will do its best to keep everyone as informed as possible. Also you can follow updates via Gillz's twitter as well.

"I will perform my best, and what happens happens. I will say this though, I don't want second place. I am going into this 100% wanting first place, I don't care about the money. As you play more and more competitively, your outlook starts to change. If you're a true competitive player, the money doesn't matter in any aspect. You want to prove you're the best, you want the win. This LAN could offer me $0 and I'd still have the exact same drive to get first place." |
