ESEA Season 5 Week 3:2 Match Round Recaps
With Scott's DiR of Week 3:1 I figured I would throw an article together of our Week 3:2 match versus SwetySwedshSalmonShuldrs for you guys. Now as I told Scott this article is probably going to look like poop compared to his but so what at least this helps get him off my back for a while. Now before you even read the rest of this article you need to queue up this song and then proceed to reading the rest of the article. Now as Skitch pointed out in his DiR (Demo in Review) of our Week 3:1
match it was one hell of a nail biter however this match wasn't really
like that sorry guys but what the hell let's get into it anyways.
SwetySwedshSalmonShuldrs, formerly known as SLP (Stacked Like Pancakes), placed 2nd last season in ESEA-Main and were expected to move up to invite. When they didn't receive the invitation the team of five broke up leaving only one player, the leader, to put together their current squad. The new SSS team has skilled players but lacks the team chemistry needed to beat us. To start the match SSS picked the counter-terrorist side (the easier side) and you might think we were a little worried about it since we got stuck playing terrorist side last match but we weren't as we made some major adjustments in strategy to help hopefully split the half. Now the next part of this match review may seem a little jumbled up but it is just key notes from the rounds (as I said before not as good as Scott's DiR).
We delayed to the inner bombsite on our t pistol and it was a dog fight but sh0ts and pinekone had very key kills to ensure the victory
The first major gun round one of their players was impatient (or cocky) and decided to push us. Sh0ts and pinekone made short work of him and after a delay (to allow them to spread out because they have to cover more areas with less people) we attacked the site we got the pick from and won. The round came down to a 1v3 but LuckeyTed managed to maneuver around all three and catch them off guard.
SSSS was forced to save and we won that round with ease.
The next gun round pinekone attempted to clear the inner site and got picked as well as LuckeyTed at ivy. But sh0ts and lbs decided to put in some work and took the round to a 1v1 after being down 3 men. Sh0ts was left in a 1v1 but eventually got shot in the back. Nice try Will!
I assumed the team would be out gunned and under prepared for a quick attack so that's what I called. I got a quick reminder of how skilled this team was when we went head to head vs them and we got rick rolled on our outside attack.
Score is now 5-2
This next round was a mess. We needed to drop guns for each other and our team left spawn without a plan. This round ended almost as fast as it started as pinekone got picked in ladder and sh0ts got pushed from inner. The rest were left to figure out what happened.
Score is 5-3
I guess this team thought we were push-overs or they were bored. Either way, this next round SSSS pushed ivy, t mid and ladder all at the start. The only person caught off guard was LuckeyTed but he's forgiven because he's attacking Ivy and that's new for him.
Score is 6-3
We were forced to eco
6-4
I have come to realize that Area51 CS 1.6 is a slow paced team. We cannot attack fast because when we do we don't all go at the same pace. I called another fast attack and half of our team didn't even go. Needless to say, we lost this round.
Score is 6-5
Each of these failed fast attacks hurt us because we had to eco (save up for guns the next round) afterwards.
Score is 6-6
So far LuckeyTed has gotten killed at ivy 3 rounds and this makes the 4th. He keeps stubbornly contesting an awper rather than waiting to double team the guy with Lbs. He'll learn soon enough. Soon after lbs tries to trade that frag and he dies as well. It is now a 3v5 situation and shots, pinekone and I start to head inner. But not before I hang around for flankers and of course one comes. Pinekone catches a flanker but dies shortly after. It is now a 2v3. Sh0ts kills one, I kill one and then I'm left to figure out where the last guy is. I wait a little bit then plant the bomb with four seconds left. I end up winning the round.
Score is 7-6
We made a few mistakes doing our default that just come from doing something new. Don't forget, last match we only got 2 rounds on t side so we still have a bunch of things to work out. Lbs went a little bit too early t middle and I went too early down ladder and we both died. Ted died at ivy. We were simply out of sync.
Score is now 7-7
At this point we had no money and we were forced to buy all we could. Lbs suggested an ivy attack which someone turned into a rush. We all know how well that worked previously.
Final score of the half 7-8
2nd half
Pinekone and I made short work of the pistol round as they came out mid and ladder. We finished with two kills a piece and the team failed to plant.

They eco'd the next two rounds.
10-8
The first gun round SSSS did a 2/1/2 rush (2 ladder 1 center 2 ivy) and Pinekone and LuckeyTed killed 3 combined with the last two being cleaned up by sh0ts and Lbs.
11-8
This next round I don't get but I don't like to place blame. Shots decided to use a sniper rifle on the inner bombsite (awp). I guess he felt there was no action so he left the bombsite unattended and by the time he rotated back they were in his face. SSSS took this round fairly easy. It could have been bad communication on the other 3's part. Who knows?!
12-8
SSSS attacked inner which was defended by sh0ts and I. We both got one kill a piece, which isn't something to be proud of but it's not horrible, but hey could have been worse. Pinekone and lbs rushed to help (because of my screaming) and made short work of the other 3.
13-8
A miss communication between LuckeyTed and I caused sh0ts in a 1v5 situation. We lost this round. This was unfortunate because they were eco'ing.

This caused us to DOUBLE save. And lbs accidentally bought an awp during this save round and didn't manage to survive.
13-11
I decided to change up the pace and call a different style of strat. We decided to go aggressive since we were passive the entire game. Pinekone got picked off early but I flanked quickly with lbs and sh0ts behind me and killed 3. Ted and sh0ts finished off the last two.
14-11
This round started off by WMO picking off LuckeyTed with an awp from ladder. SSSS took inner and also killed Lbs. In a 3v5 situation sh0ts killed one more and Pinekone and I were left in a 2v4. Pinekone picked off one, and then I surged forward and fragged two more. Pinekone defended me as I diffused the bomb. It was a close one.

SSSS was broke at this point and the final round was easily won. They rushed outside and the round quickly ended. I don't believe anyone died.
I will say that I have never played in a match where we gave a team more opportunities to win rounds/situations. But with respect to SSS, they also gave us rounds that we shouldn't have won. This game reminds me of an NFL game where there were a thousand penalties.
