ESEA Season 5 Week 1:2 Demo in Review
I've decided after trying to get James to write a pre/post game for the
match versus Swingline and coming to no avail I would start up a new
series dubbed Demo in Review or DiR for short. In this new series I
will pick a match (probably one a week) for either Counter-Strike 1.6
or Counter-Strike:Source (hell maybe even from our other divisions) and
give my thoughts/review a few key rounds from the demo. I am also
planning on having some of the players give their comments on some of
the rounds in later additions to this series as well. So enough of me
rambling on lets download the demo and get started.
1st Half (Terrorist Side)
Pistol Round: Now as some of you may or may not know I've known James and the rest the CS team for quite a few years and have seen them play about 45 de_inferno match (maybe even more) and coming into this match I expected to see one of their crazy pistol strats, but I didn't. Instead they simply sat on terrorist staging area while PineKone push up alternate middle and waited for pushes or an opening frag. Swingline did the typical counter-terrorist pistol strat pushing three down banana while the other two waited on middle. PineKone was the first to go down from a guy peeking crack house then the rest of the Area51.cs team decided to slowly push up the ramp and get the 3 counter-terrorists that pushed down and take/plant the bomb in B. By the time the bomb is finally planted in B it is James in a 1vs.2 which he ends up losing giving the pistol round to Swingline.
Eco Round: After losing the pistol round Area51.cs opted to do what anyone does after losing pistol round and buy deagles and grenades and rush B led by PineKone. The rush into B was quite easy for Area51.cs as Swingline only had two in the B site which were warded off by PinKone's flash into the site. The round easily went to Area51 and was much needed after losing the initial pistol round. Also PineKone had a nasty one deg double headshot kill on the two kids back hall that made Swingline go "WHAT!".
First Full Gun Round: Going into the first full gun round for both teams I figured Area51 would have the advantage after winning two rounds in a row and starting to pick up some momentum but boy was I wrong. The round stated off with Area51 sending three guys alternate middle with the intention of controlling it until they decided to either go apartments or up middle with some nice flash work. Swingline seemed to do the the default two B three A with one guy boosted azn which really seemed to catch the guys off guard when tried to come up middle and take A. Swingline took the first gun round quite easily losing only one man the entire round.
11th Round: I was originally going to only cover three rounds per half but since Ted is one of my favorite players (or as James likes to say i'm obsessed with him) I figured why not throw a little LuckeyTed ownage into this half. The round started off pretty much the same as their pistol with Area51 waiting for some kind of pick before committing to a site. After gathering the troops at the bottom of banana Ted lead his troops (haha) with a slow walk into B. Upon entering the site Ted destroyed a guy in arch way and then quickly turned to his left and one shotted a guy through a box trying to reposition himself in the site, Go Ted!
End of 1st Half: The end of the 1st half went to Area51 easily with an 11-4 score led by an overall team effort. Oh and as always listening to the in-game chat for this match was quite funny as Swingline had the funniest comment of the match "They are all washed up and can't aim all we have to do is hit them" - Swingline
2nd Half (Counter-Terrorist Side)
Pistol Round: The pistol round stated off with Area51 staking the A site with four while one pushed down banana into middle. Swingline started off sending three alternate middle while two waited on terrorist ramp for banana pushers and/or middle crossers. Swingline eventually tried to take middle but were shut down by LuckeyTed which is when they tried to retreat to B but were shut down just as easy.
Eco Round: The pistol eco round for Swingline started off with some of them buying deagles and delay walking up alternate middle. The round almost went in Swinglines favor thanks to fluaxoN baiting his teammate ksm in crack house and killing a few Area51 members with his glock.
3rd Round: The third round was kind of a surprise to me as Swingline decided to buy up and try to surprise Area51, however that did not work as Lbs was all over the map on a mission killing anything/everything that moved. Area51 ended up taking to the round and putting Swingline in a very bad economic state (they should have saved tisk tisk).
End of 2nd Half: In the end Area51.cs proved to be too much only giving up a total of eight rounds sealing the deal with a 16-8 win pushing Area51 to a 2-0 record thus far in the season.
