ESEA LAN Finals: 51 loses to EG
In two quick maps EG put away Area 51 to advance to the Upper Bracket Finals. EG silenced 51 on Inferno 16-2 and then sealed the deal with a 16-8 victory on Nuke.
EG opened Inferno with an iron clad defense where they allowed Area 51 to take only two terrorist rounds. From their 13-2 advantage, EG was able to take the pistol and the next two eco rounds to take the first map 16-2. EG was led by Lurppis who led the scoreboard with a 27-7 score and had a ridiculous 134.6 ADR. Tomi "Lurppis" Kovanen described his team's Inferno to ESEA News.
"I think we have a pretty balanced Inferno CT side ... there aren't really a lot of holes that they can exploit in the way we play," said Kovanen. "Whatever they do we're pretty good about countering it. We figured we wouldn't be have too much trouble with them."
The next match was slightly closer. EG racked up 10 rounds on their terrorist side, and put them in great position for their CT side. The second half saw EG quickly take the six rounds they needed on defense, while only conceding three rounds. Storm was the player of the match with a 30-11 score and a dominating 13-3 on their CT side.
"I think we were definitely the better team. We lost the pistol but we still got ten on our T side," said Kovanen. "I think we played a little sloppy a couple of rounds but when you win the first map 16-2 and are up 6-1 it's hard to play super serious. We actually lost both pistol rounds; so winning eight rounds with losing both pistols is pretty good."
EG now moves on to face compLexity in the Upper Bracket Finals.
