Area51.tf2 ready for a season of CEVO changes
Well in light of Ares announcement of the new Area51 Gaming Team Fortress 2 roster I figured it was only fitting to announce more information regarding the upcoming season of CEVO. I also figured I would go into some detail on the first match up of the season for the team.
The first thing many people will notice about this season of CEVO Professional for TF2 is the decision to reduce the matches from two matches a week to one match a week. This decision was done in order to give teams the opportunity to participate in CEVO as well as ESEA, which will be running simultaneously. This new format for the professional division of CEVO really speaks to CEVO's character and devotion to help keep the TF2 community active and as happy as possible. Also if you havn't done so already I would take a look at the CEVO Professional Season 5 schedule.
Now if you check the schedule above im sure you noticed that the first week of match ups are set to take place on cp_badlands where the Area51.tf2 team will face off against Apocalypse Gaming. While Apocalypse Gaming has only been together for about a year they have had some great success this past ESEA season in the open division and are known for scrimming quite often. The Area51.tf2 team has been preparing quite a bit this past two weeks with a practice schedule of Sunday through Thursday. I had a chance to ask Len "CB" Talarico and Justin "BloodSire" Danford a few questions regarind CEVO as well as their upcoming match versus Apocalypse Gaming which you can read below.
What are your thoughts on CEVOs decision to cut the CEVO Professional matches from 2 to 1 match a week ?
Is their any team(s) that you are really looking forward to playing this season and if so why ?
How do you feel your week 1 match vs Apocalypse Gaming is going to play out ? Any predictions ?

The Area51.tf2 team has been preparing quite a bit this past two weeks with a practice schedule of Sunday through Thursday. What are your thoughts on CEVOs decision to cut the CEVO Professional matches from 2 to 1 match a week ?
CB: I think its a good choice. Most teams weren't going to play cevo if it was two matches a week because they want to focus on esea. Our team was planning on playing both leagues regardless, but the fact that more of the top teams will pbe playing cevo now is a good thing. BloodSire: Like the rest of my team, I am very happy cevo came to it's senses and cut matches to once a week. Everyone likes to compete, but with ESEA at the top of the hill atm, teams were less likely to join the league under it and stack 2 more matches onto their workload. That would have been 4 matches a week on 2 different maps...As a player I was not looking forward to it. |
Is their any team(s) that you are really looking forward to playing this season and if so why ?
CB: Im really looking forward to playing complexity. They have proven how good they really are by winning season after season and playing them is always a learning experience. |
How do you feel your week 1 match vs Apocalypse Gaming is going to play out ? Any predictions ?
BloodSire: It seems we are getting right into things with our match vs AG. We don't have too much history against them as they played for open last season, but we know they are not to be taken lightly. Also, with the long off-season we had there is going to be some rust we need to shake off, but I'm confident we'll be able to pull this one out without many hiccups. 5-2 final with us in favor, would have to be my prediction. CB: We are excited to start cevo season 5 and play our first match against AG. It's been a while since weve played a match but we are ready. We have been preparing and working hard to make sure our teamwork is in place and we are all on the same page. AG scrims a lot and puts in a good deal of time and preperation as well. It should be a very competetive match. Make sure you check it out! |
