Area51.CS Team with a Changed Roster
For those of you that follow the 1.6 scene especially the ESEA League you may have noticed that our former counter-strike 1.6 team has had its fair amount of high and low points throughout it tenure here with the Area51 organization. Despite having the same counter-strike 1.6 roster for 10 months (longest in ESEA League history) and
securing a 3rd place finish in ESEA-Main Season 5 its time that the
Area51.cs
team makes some roster changes. When I asked James O'Connor his thoughts and reasoning behind a new roster/team here is what he had to say.
With the departure of the old roster members James and PineKone have decided to merge with the ATP roster and form a new Area51.cs roster with Richard "levy" Levy, George "krb" Gonzalez, and Paul "pauly" Guerboyan. The new Area51.cs roster is currently participating in ESEA-Invite and while their record isn't the greatest they have shown steady improvement as a team.
Below you can find a few questions I asked Richard "levy" Levy.
Why did your old team fall apart and why are you teaming up with Jame^s and Pinekone now?
What can you tell me about your teammate from ATP that you brought (krb)?
You were the in-game leader for ATP and Jame^s was the in-game leader for Area 51's old team. What happens now?
We would like to wish the former counter-strike 1.6 team members the best of luck in the future as they are a great bunch of guys.
Keeping the same roster together is very difficult. It takes
self-sacrifice from each team member over time and it can an wear an
individual thin once the common courtesy is gone. Once Lbs had decided
he needed to take a break the team attempted to replace him with Peachie
but the move failed. I (James) decided to call time of death of the old
team and create something new with Pinekone. LuckeyTed is undecided on whether he will be a backup to the new team and Sh0ts has moved on to another team with Peachie.Lbs has quit cs and he is unsure of his possible return. |

Dynamic(atp) fell apart because of members unfortunately not having enough time in their schedule to fit CS in for enough time to be successful at the top level, and James, PK and I played together in the past for a short while and saw a great connection so we took it now and made it happen and are looking forward to play in all the big online and lan tournaments to come. |

krb is a unique player in the sense that no one knows how good this guy really is(i taught him! :D).. its impressive and he is like my wingman that I feel safe when he's playing, and I'm sure the feeling is mutual. We have played together for 4 years now. |

I actually took a lot of pride in being a leader type of person and will continue to be, but have stepped down and decided to let Jame^s call the shots in-game and use my experience to help the tactics work to their full potential. We discuss a lot of things together and share our ideas and show the team, but in the match it will ultimately be his call, and I trust his judgment as he trusts mine when we are in practice. |
