QuakeCon 2010 Day One

Yesterday marked the first day of QuakeCon 2010 for Area51Gaming.com, at this years event is Ares, Boots, Falco, Gillz, Skitch, and Titan. Boots, Gillz, and Titan are all competing in the duels this year happily but haven't had a chance yet to do so.  QuakeCon and their staff have been having issues with the internet and it either not working, or crawling at a snails pace. So no tournament games were played at the first days event. I spoke with T-Dawg near the network operation center where he told me he was trying to upload 7 photos with his browser returning 53 minutes to do so.

Boots, Gillz, and Titan are scheduled to start competition this morning at 9AM with Boots and Gillz receiving a Bye first round. Titan has an opponent --although I'm not sure of their alias-- and will start competition at 9AM, whereas Boots and Gillz will have more time to practice with their Byes receiving their first opponent at the 10AM matches. QuakeCon will have to play catch up today fitting in duals matches, and CTF in what I'm sure will seem like a short amount of time with one day being gone already. Day two I'm sure will not only be hectic but eventful as well, and I hope we will be able to bring you more coverage of QuakeCon 2010.

The expo this year seems to be a little bigger with PLENTY of hands on things for you to play with. Alienware has a humvee with gaming computers on and inside it for people to play. The ASUS booth has some of the most wicked computers I've ever seen, and if I had larger pockets would own one. You can check out pictures of some of these computers in the gallery  page, I suggest taking a look if you're into computer pr0n. The two Shelby GT500 mustangs provided by Ventrilo, what can I say other than, WOW! These have to be simply some of the sexiest muscle cars built today and Ventrilo sure has figured out a fantastic marketing strategy to boast their product. Both of these cars (need to be won by me of course) lay lazily near the entrance of the Expo begging to be out on the open road at full throttle, and two members of QuakeCon 2010 are going to be able to oblige this year.

Ladies and gentlemen, on to day two, we'll see you there!
