Area51 Quake Duelers in Action

Well its been quite some time since their was any word on Quake Live action for Area51 Gaming, well I am happy to announce that is about to change. As some of you may be aware or read about the Intel Extreme Masters Quake Live Qualifiers that are now taking place. The Intel Extreme Master Quake Live Qualifiers will consist of four qualification cups and the top two of the four qualification cups will be joined by eight invited players to fight for a slot in the finals.

I am very excited to announce that our very own Bryan "Gillz" Gilbert and Dalton "boots" Demaria will be competing in the Intel Extreme Masters Quake Live Qualification Cups. Bryan will be competing in all four of the qualifications cups (or until he qualifies) while Dalton will only be competing in one qualification cup (possibly two if school permits).

Qualifier Tournament Structure/Prize Information

The Qualification Cups
Three of the four qualifier cups will be played on one day completely, but the second qualifier cup will be played on two days. Each cup will have 32 slots, but can be increased to 64 slots, for each round of the cup there is an one hour timelimit and players have to be at the official irc channel #esl.quakelive (Gamesurge) during the tournament. If a player fails to show up until 15 minutes after the start of a round he gets disqualified.

Prize Money
For each win during the American Championship group stage the winner receives $75 and all players that qualify for the Finals receive a bonus of $100*. So during main round we will give out a total of $2,600 in prize money.

Finals: $8,000

Total Prize Money: $10,600

*Bonus is only paid when the participant takes part in the Final event.
