Area51.CoD Heads Into CEVO Playoffs! Posted by Skitch on 03/23/2009
As CEVO heads strong into the playoffs, teams alike are suiting up and preparing themselves for the extremely competitive atmosphere. With that said, this short break serves as a time of reflection, improvement and mental preparation for Area51.CoD.

The third season of CEVO was rather eventful for the CoD4 team. Area51 made some early noise starting the season, boasting an impressive record of 4-0. There were a couple notable wins over two reputable teams; MugNMouse and Team Binary. For CEVO week 3, Area51.CoD was set to face Team Binary, often considered one of the strongest contenders for the CEVO A title, on arguably one of their strongest maps, crash. After losing two quick rounds on defense, the team bounced back strong and went on to take the match with ease (16-9 W) with some solid play by Theo "darkk Tijssen and Brice"k0ja Rader. Darkk had this to say regarding his team's reaction after a dominant outcome versus Team Binary-

"We were surprised but not shocked. We had been practicing all week for this match and we knew we would win. With that said, we could not have predicted we would have won so easily. We really proved to ourselves that we were much better than we had previously thought.

The team would unfortunately go on to drop the next two matches, mainly due to a mix of waning activity and dedication by certain members. Area51.CoD acted swiftly to address the growing issue, which would come in the addition of Ryan "Pyrowraith McKay, Dean"shftr Southworth, and Greg "D3ftone Moore. Area51 would go on to win their next two matches and finish the season with a record of 6-2, with the 4th overall seed in a 32 team bracket. (View Bracket Here)

This season has been filled with ups and downs just like any team has throughout each season. We have been able to finish the season 6-2 after starting off 4-0. We had some major roster issues/inactivity when we hit our lowest point of the season losing 2 in a row. We made some adjustments to our roster to add depth and experience. This mixed it up and seemed to have a positive effect on our team. Our chemistry is returning to the way it was when we started the season off with 4 straight wins. Look for us to have a huge post-season. - Brice "Koja Rader

Come follow and support Area51.CoD as they begin their one-month journey to the CEVO-A championship starting March 30th on mp_crash, through April 27th!
