Update: After checking the brackets this morning to see if their had been any new sign ups for the 1vs.1 or 4vs.4 events it looks as though the GotFrag Quake Live Classic Tournament has been canceled or rescheduled to a later date. I will try and get an official statement if I can.
On August 6th, 2009 GotFrag announced they would be hosting a Quake
Live tournament in association with GameBattles.com and Major League
Gaming. The event structure is setup to host both a 1v1 and a 4v4 Clan
Arena event. With the registration ending on Monday, August 31st, 2009
the event could possibly be in jeopardy.
After reviewing the tournament structure and information I found out that the 1vs.1 event has a maximum of 128 player spots total and only has 6 total players signed up to compete. To make matters even worse the 64 team 4vs.4 event only has 1 team signed up to compete and that team is still considered "Pending". I will try and speak with members of GotFrag to see what their plans are for the event.
On the bright side of things if this event does take place we will get to see boots from Area51 in some nice Quake Live 1vs.1 action. We last saw boots at QuakeCon 2009 being accused of cheating on LAN by some of his opponents.
