Blast Posted by Oafmeal on 12/28/2009

Still having a blast down south, and have some more time to describe some of the great stuff happening down here.

Last week I met an interesting character...  A 70 year old Scotsman who wears a cowboy hat, and makes some of his money running bootlegged tequilla.  Not only is that an interesting living, but his other habit is paying all the local ´women of the night´ to know him well.  A night out with a woman costs him roughly 200 pesos, and he claims that with enough cialis (or however you spell it) he´s up to 4-5 times a week.  Doing the math on it was pretty fun considering his wife died a couple years ago, and what he receives from his widowers pension (not counting his own) covers all of his whoring.  4/week x 4 weeks x 200 = 3200.  Not only does his dead wife pay for his dirty old man sex that he pays for, but he ends up with 1400 pesos on top of that for drinks.  His tequilla is damn good.

I´ve found some great rock climbing down here right on the ocean, but I have to walk across a long beach to get to it.  More often than not, I get distracted by women, drinks, and a few friends before I get through the gauntlet of bars along the shore.  Climbing after 1 or 2 drinks is fine, but beyond that, and it sounds stupid even when you´re pissed.  Right after posting this, I´m heading out, so wish me luck in staying relatively sober!

On the music front, I´m playing two nights a week at the Maya, a fine dining restaurant.  They feed us, ply us with drinks, pay the band well, and I always fall asleep after the extraordinary meals and drinks I could in NO way afford smiling quietly to myself.

I get out fishing on occasion in the true local style...  With fishing line wrapped around an old coke bottle.  Even right off the beach, I´m having great luck.

In spite of how fun it is, I miss my TF2!!!  D:

I'll be back to take care of business on Sunday... The time's gone by WAY too fast, but there's already another couple updates! I met a few folks from my home town down here, and the results are as follows: I'm now the proud owner of two Jeeps. Both panel wagons, a '52, and a '58 to be precise. They're identical aside from the dashboard, so the '52 is the parts bitch for the '58. They come with new side panels, good glass, and new tires. The '58 is running on 5/6 of the original hurricane 6, and the '52 was running fine 6 months ago... gimme a couple months, and I'll have one of those old darlings up and running... I've got access free of charge to a welding shop, and a sheet metal shop, both of which I've worked at. Aside from that, I've met a stone mason, and a plumber, both of whom need a full time employee. I've got a bit of work when I get home, but I can't pass this up! <3 Oaf. See you guys soon!
