| CSS team wraps up week 1 on de_inferno | Posted by Daemos on 11/20/2009 |
As this is my first blog post, I'll start with a little introduction. I'm the captain of the Counter-strike Source team, a team that has struggled to maintain its roster through more than one event . Hopefully, this time will be different. Since the addition of a!m to the roster, the source team has found a much needed backbone to help keep the roster consistent. Even with this new roster addition, penguinmurda, shredder, and brawwr have had a lot of their time drawn to their schooling and unfortunately will not be able to start most matches this season. I would look to see Shredder around in a few weeks though.
Alright, on to the matches. The source team found a huge struggle in the first match this week as we were up against Vicious gaming. Having only one starter playing(myself), we got off to a very solid 13-2 start on CT side of inferno. Assuming the match was in the bag going into T side, we got sloppy, and lost several crucial 3v2 situations with the bomb planted. The final score ended up being 16-14 for Vicious Gaming. See the matches page for additional information and a demo. After this match, I knew a change had to be made. I was not going to play any more matches with four backups. A rash removal of crunch, zx_xmbie, senna, and ICK(who didn't even SHOW for the match) was required.
Thanks to the kindness of the next team we played, climaXpro, we were able to add a much needed player to our roster. A long time friend and teammate of a!m named Peter "wtf" Hua. It was good to have some fresh blood on the team, and he was instantly able to compliment a!m's playing style as they both defended the banana bomb site together. With wtf, a!m, and myself now 3 solid starters, our source team is well on its way back to the top. As for the other two players, we called in our wonderful backups penguinmurda and limbcutter. In the first half, we took climaXpro to school, beating them a hefty 12-3 on CT side of inferno with myself top fragging with 27. Moving onto the second half of the match, we already knew we weren't the strongest team on T side. With having to play with two backups and not having completed the roster yet, we had yet to make strats so we were hard pressed to win rounds. We picked up two rounds pretty early on making us quite optimistic, however they were quick to adjust and began to shut us down everywhere we went. We lost several in a row, and were on the road to another upsetting one round loss. Finally with some brute force on the A bomb site we were able to pick up a round, and after that their morale was shattered and we were able to pick up the winning round, finishing up a close match 16-13. I have added the match and my personal demo as well as screenshots to the matches section and I would strongly recommend watching it. By the end of the match, I had accumulated a solid 40 frags and 20 deaths.
Keep an eye on us as we complete our roster and head into next weeks matches on de_dust2!
